What is Greekbill and who’s it for?

If you’re a fraternity or sorority treasurer and have looked for a platform to help you collect dues or track expenses, you’ll almost certainly have stumbled across Greekbill. It’s used by several fraternity and sorority chapters and is always near the top of any list of relevant Google search results, but what is it all about?

In this article, we’ll take a close look at the platform to figure out exactly what Greekbill (now re:Members) is, who it’s really for, Greekbill pricing, and whether you should consider signing up with Greekbill if you want to manage chapter finances online.

What is Greekbill?

Greekbill (now re:Members) is a platform for sorority and fraternity treasurers, helping them bill members, collect dues, and track expenses online. It takes the manual element out of the process and simplifies things so that treasurers can focus on the day-to-day of their chapters.

In January 2025, Greekbill was renamed to re:Members as a part of a rebranding.

Who can use Greekbill?

Greekbill was founded by Rob Hammond in April of 1996 with the vision of giving fraternity treasurers a way to manage finances online and reduce manual workload.

Greekbill has since expanded to sorority treasurers and even headquarters to track their member chapters.

As a part of the rebranding to re:Members, Greekbill can also be used by general nonprofits.

Greekbill pricing

Although Greekbill does not make their pricing public, chapters have reported paying up to 5% per transaction, and some chapters have reported paying up to $42 per member per year. For a chapter of 30 charging $450 for dues, this would be anywhere from $540 to $1260 a year.

Generally speaking, you will not be using Greekbill unless your headquarters has made a deal with them. Even then, these fees will eat very deeply into your collections.

How does Greekbill help treasurers?

Greekbill has been traditionally known as a dues collection software for fraternities and sororities, but it’s been around for almost 30 years and has evolved significantly in that time. Today, Greekbill can do a lot more, although that original core remains firmly in place.

Invoice Members

Invoicing members is where Greekbill began, and today you can invoice members for several types of charges.

In order to invoice members on Greekbill, you will have to:

  1. Create your charge, such as Spring Dues
  2. Manually assign charges to members
  3. Send your invoices

Collect payments

In order to make a payment on Greekbill, members will need to have been invoiced either through an on-demand invoice or the default monthly invoice.

Once members have been billed they will have to log in to make a payment, although as we already mentioned, Greekbill may not be the best choice for treasurers who want to easily get members to pay, thanks to their lack of payment options and hefty fee schedule.

To make a payment, members will visit Home, select Make Payment on the charge they want to pay, enter an amountpayment method, and click Submit.

Manage budgets

We’ve already mentioned that Greekbill helps treasurers on the collections front, but it’s worth noting that you can track expenses within Greekbill as well. They offer a budget builder tool a well as finance reports that helps you easily create budgets and get insights into your transactions.

Commonly asked questions about Greekbill

How does Greekbill make money?

Greekbill’s revenue comes from the per member platform fees and the additional per-transaction fees. And depending on the headquarters they are working with, they will typically increase or decrease the per-member fees. Chapters will be paying anywhere from $2 per member to $4 per member every month. Some chapters have also reported an additional transaction fee, such as 5% per transaction.

What are some Greekbill alternatives?

If at this point you’re still reading about Greekbill and thinking that there are a few areas where Greekbill falls short, don’t worry – there are some great alternatives out there that could work for you, and some even go above and beyond. Here are three to think about:

1. 🏅MyGreek

MyGreek is a freemodern financial management platform that serves fraternity and sorority treasurers in much the same way that Greekbill does, but with some major differences when it comes to offering and pricing.

Dues collection and budget tracking are very much apart of MyGreek’s core offering. MyGreek also saves treasurers time with automatic payment plansshareable payment links, and an easy-to-use expense tracker.

Pricing also differs significantly – MyGreek is completely free to use and allows you to pass the 3% processing fees onto members, meaning it’s the ideal choice for fraternity and sorority treasurers.
